DCS is a privately-held corporation based out of South Carolina
who markets comprehensive software solutions for departments of
Sheriff, Police, Fire, and Jails throughout the United States.  The
desire to provide the most effective, user-friendly products and
service in the industry has been the driving force behind our software
development; the long-term relationships we have cultivated with
our clients are a continuing testimony to our success in meeting
this goal.
While some software providers out-source their modules, DCS believes
that this approach can lead to serious compatibility issues, service
problems, eventually collapse or abandonment.  The fact that DCS
produces all its software in-house gives all our users the security
of knowing that their needs are fully understood by our engineers
and support personnel.  The DCS staff is eminently qualified in
site configuration, training, and maintenance, and support is
available 24/7 to all clients in the DCS enterprise.
We are proud to be established as a front-runner in the
public safety software solutions arena, and we continue to set the
pace with new products and upgrades as needs change for our clients
and the industry at large.
Our Commitment to IBM
Our customers often tell us how pleased they are with our products.  "They never crash,"
is what we hear all the time.  What the customer is (truly) referring to, is the dependability of the hardware platform.    Nothing beats the dependability of the iSeries.
We are often asked if our products will run on any other platform.  "The answer is, no."  says President Mary T Rooney.  That is because the IBM iSeries guarantees the customer three things:  1)dependability,  2)dependability,  3) dependability.
"We want our customers to experience nothing less than success;  ONLY the IBM iSeries can give them that,"  she said.
Although the iSeries is a more expensive up-front investment than its 32-bit Intel counterparts, it reduces dependency on IT staff, a tremendous savings for the department.  There is the old saying, "Pay now, or pay later."
Put everything you don't care about on your Windows domain, and put everything else on the IBM
iSeries/i5 server.  If availability and security are important to you, you should be running away
from a Windows box as fast as you can.

During the 2007 Christmas holidays, the equivalent of a CMOS battery went out on their iSeries.  There was no time for an orderly shutdown; the shutdown was sudden.
This agency has been a customer of ours since 1989. They have more than 13,000,000 records on their machine.  Rather than having to spend an enormous amount of time picking up the pieces from the sudden shutdown, they were up and running once IBM had the part replaced.
In the Intel world, given the same situation, the part would certainly get replaced, but the agency would then face corrupted files, lost data, time-consuming file repairs, time-consuming rebuilds of the damaged indices; the list goes on.  Most of our agencies do not have a person on staff that would be capable of rebuilding the system, nor even knowing where to begin.  They whoud have to seek outside help and pay big bucks for the data recovery.  During the entire length of time that it takes for the recovery, the agency would remain down.
People sometimes complain that the iSeries is expensive; but this is just one example on how the machine pays for itself.
